Norwalk Jr. Football (formerly Norwalk Youth Football ) is the original ongoing youth football league in town that has been affiliated with the Norwalk Athletic Association (NAA) since 1958.
We are a member of American Youth Football and Cheer and play within the Colonial Youth Football and Cheer League. American Youth Football and Cheerleading (AYF) is the nations largest football family with 23,000 teams in 50 states. Memberships in the above organizations allows Norwalk Jr. Football & Cheer to compete in Local, State, Regional and National Championships*.
Our program is grade based and age protected, providing the young athlete the opportunity to learn the basic fundamentals in a safe and structured environment and apply this knowledge and technique to the game of football, the way it is played at the high school level. Players learn to play the positions they are physically capable of playing, and the positions they will likely play as they matriculate into high school. No other local area organization offers this type of program. Real football. Real football positions. Real football rules. Every single young athlete in grades 2-8 that fall within our age restriction is welcome and eligible to play.
American Youth Football & Cheer is second to none, allowing participants aged 7-15 to not only cheer for their designated footballs teams, but to compete at the local, regional and national levels in a structured environment tailored to the skill level of each squad.
The Colonial Football and Cheer league is comprised of 11 towns including Ansonia, Aspetuck, Bethel, Bridgeport, Danbury, Monroe, New Milford, Newtown, Norwalk, Oxford and Shelton.
* currently only 8th grade is eligible for national championships
